If you have been driving for a number of years, you have been relying on instincts that tell you to always perform the basics on the road.  You might not even think twice about your driving skills because they are now second nature. Could this be true or have you just been lucky and not had an accident a long time?

You might automatically do that look-left, look-right at the stop sign and that extra look once again to your left can reveal that vehicle that just came around the corner.  When you are backing out of a parking space, we always look to both sides before backing. What about straight behind you?  That car there could be doing the same thing you are and so you both back up toward each other.  This is a common collision in parking lots and one that is easily avoided.

When you find yourself first in line at a red light, don’t punch the gas pedal the second the light turns green. Wait a second before you move forward as there can be someone running that light and you will be in their path.  Your blind spot is another common place for an accident to be waiting.
