Miguel Cotto and Cars
On the 3rd of December 2011, the two iconic boxers Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito will meet at Madison Square Garden in New York for the Boxing Super Welterweight WBA World Championship. In anticipation of the match, many people start to look into the two boxer’s personal lives.
As far as cars go, Miguel Cotto is mainly known for his car accidents. In 2001, Miguel Cotto suffered serious injuries after falling asleep behind the wheel on his way to the gymnasium. The injuries he suffered included a broken arm, for which he required hospitalisation, threatening his boxing career. Luckily, however, he recovered.
In 2004, however, he was involved in yet another car accident. This time, his wife was the driver. The car skidded off the road and ended up upside down. It seems that Miguel Cotto’s wife saw what appeared like a large black bag on the road. She thought it may contain a dead body and swerved to avoid it, thereby causing the accident. Luckily, this time, no one was hurt, which really was a stroke of luck as their children were in the car as well.
None of these accidents have stopped Miguel Cotto from being a fantastic boxer, luckily. He has suffered many other personal blows, including the time when one of his best friends, Joseph Serrano, was shot in the head.
It seems bad luck follows Cotto around, but so far he has been able to pick himself up time and again and give some fantastic performances in the boxing ring. Whilst the match against Antonio Margarito will bring cannot be predicted, of course, it is set to be a fantastic match. Many people are hoping that Miguel Cotto will not drive himself to either the match or to his many training sessions before the match takes place.
